7 Days of Color Review

Hello everyone. I finally decided to participate in Victoria Ying's #7daysofcolor social media project. She posted on instagram that she wanted her feed to "look like a rainbow!" I think many illustrators, artists, and designers helped her with that dream. She challenged everyone to do this for four weeks, here is my Week 1 (week 3 of the challenge) I tried to focus on supernatural females, each with a special quirk of their own. Enjoy!

Monday: Day #1 - Red
Queen B Negative, Vampire Diva
Tuesday: Day #2 - Orange
Lady Flame, Mistress of Fire

Wednesday: Day #3 - Yellow

Tracking Comic Con...the Hannibal Way

Every year I wish I can join the masses and attend San Diego Comic Con (perhaps if I'm lucky as a table holder along Artist's Alley)...this year, however, I have been tracking and watching all the exclusives unfold on Twitter. It's great to see the pictures as all the fans tweet them, but I still wish I could be on the other side of those tweets! Anywho, I wanted to create a silly illustration of me, eyes glued to my phone, reading #SDCC tweets. My true dedication has been to following 'Tiny Hannibal' and all the shenanigans he has been getting into. Today NBC's Hannibal had their panel, released their tiny line of Funko vinyls, and chatted about Season Three's surprises. So to show my Fannibal nature, here is my illustration, me reading #EatTheCon with my flower crown.

Fall Fantasies

Hello again! It's been a very busy week. As we pack up our home in Maryland and plan for our move back to Pennsylvania, the stress has been clouding my mind. I needed to find some clarity in something that makes me happy: Autumn. This little mini print series focuses on moments of fall that make me happy. The first image shows a young woman enjoying the warmth and delight of a Pumpkin Spice Latte! Who doesn't smile at those magical three little letters written on the side of their coffee cup...PSL.

The second image is of "Leafing Beauty." She's enjoying the fall foliage, falling leaves, and fun of finding the most festive leaf. (Okay, the alliteration was getting the best of me there.)
Last but certainly not least, is the Jack O'Lantern grin girl. I would love to sit outside in the crisp autumn air and carve some pumpkins while the pumpkin seeds warm in the oven. So in the mean time, this illustration will have to suffice.

Here are the original sketches, I hope to have a shop up and running soon to offer prints of these images and many others. Thanks for stopping by!

I've gone batty

Tonight is another piece inspired by the Sketch Daily topic. I have, in all her batty beauty, Batgirl. The current Batgirl comic has just gone through a refreshing but I wanted to keep the classic TV inspiration going (like in the Wonder Girl I did a few days ago) which you can see in her fiery red hair, golden wings, and sassy purple outfit. Can't fight crime without a little class. Enjoy!

She's so wonderful

Evening Bloggers! There may be severe thunderstorms, flash flood warnings, and wind advisories for my area but that doesn't stop...WONDER WOMAN! Today's Sketch Daily brings lively inspiration from the world of COMICS! EKK! :) Decked out in the best hair style around, here is my rendition of this strong beauty.

As usual, here are my process images. The original sketch and some thumbnails along her super journey.

Don't Lose Your Head...

Happy Monday Bloggers! Today I have another Sketch Dailies treat to share with you. To round out their Villian Week, last Friday's inspiration was...the Headless Horseman! I came up with a quirky interpretation of Ichabod's first encounter with the Hessian. In this piece, Ichabod is still just a boy and needs to learn not to steal pumpkins from strangers. I wanted to have the Horseman emerging from the shadows lit only by the light from the pumpkin Ichabod is holding. I hope you enjoy! I had a great time making this one.

Here are my progress sketches for this one, the original drawing and a peek at the development. This one was a challenge.
